Description

Narrow antique runners of this calibre are hard to come by.Hand-spun wool and wonderful organic dyes have been used by the talented 19th century Kurdish weavers of West Persia to produce an elegant and decorative gem. The field is composed of myriad little floral ornaments in multiple colours which creates a kaleidoscopic effect. This contrasts with the strong ivory border decorated with repeating stars and other geometric ornaments. Note the braided kilim at one end which has survived the years virtually intact. This is a delightful piece, pretty and harmonious, which would enhance many settings. It has been professionally cleaned and is in excellent condition with good pile and wear commensurate with a piece of this age.
