Description

This lovely old Karaja rug has the classic three medallion field on a sapphire blue field and is framed by the classic border with stylised flowers and tree-like ornaments. However, every element is a bit special. The dyes are wonderful with in particular various shades of green. The terracotta border is exquisite and is beautifully spaced, not crowded like in later examples. The three medallions also have exquisite detailing, and the rest of the field is filled with myriad geometric ornaments. The weave is fine and the pile is thin. Although this piece has a few old repairs, it is in very good useable condition, and would make an impact either as a floor rug or on a wall. Highly recommended.
