Description

This handsome room-size Heriz carpet is a great size and would look wonderful in the right setting. It has soft glossy wool and natural dyes which have mellowed and harmonised well over the years. Note the saturated terracota red field centred by 'medallion and corners' which is supplemented by anchors at the ends of the medallion and stylised leaves and palmettes throughout the field. Note also the very elegant border with stylised blossoms and acanthus leaves which may well make this a perfect carpet to go under a dining table. The use of lots of green, yellow and ivory, especially in the spandrels, lightens the overall composition. This is a very happy and appealing carpet with a strong sturdy weave that has survived the generations in very good condition. The pile is still good, and the ends and original sides are intact. Professionally cleaned in our workshop, this wonderful carpet is ready for immediate use.
