Description

This interesting Heriz carpet combines an attractive range of colours, and a decorative design of stylised leaves and other floral devices. Hand spun wool and beautiful dyes. The terracotta background is superb whilst there is a lovely pale blue which can be seen in the prominent leaves in the centre of the field. Dating to the end of the the 19th pre-commercial production village weaving. Finer than average knot density and wool quality which gives the design very good definition. In generally good condition, with good even pile throughout , ends and sides original and intact. There are some signs of wear which give it an attractive patina, and the 'lived-in' look. Professionally cleaned and ready for immediate use. I think this is a very decorative piece which would work equally well in both modern and traditional settings.
