Description

This is a most attractive and rare late 18th century mahogany dressing table with beautiful inlay work, crossbanding and very pretty hand painted detail.

The chest dates from around 1790 and has an elegant form with square tapering legs and pierced fretwork detailing beneath the cabinet which has a long base drawer and fitted interior. The hinged lids fold out to reveal the original fitted cabinet with lidded compartments that have crossbanded detail and their original turned knobs. The central mirror has its original plate glass and there is a glass candle holder to the back left section and a velvet upholstered pad on the right between the lidded compartments. The cabinet is beautifully hand painted throughout the piece, including the back with garlands and swags of flowers. The lids are beautifully painted with baskets of flowers hanging from long ribbons. The chest is raised on its original brass castors.

The chest measures 77 cms high by 63 cms wide by 50 cms deep and is 74 cms high by 126 cms wide overall when opened.
