Description

Painted in the last quarter of the 19th Century this pair of well executed water colours feature two properties in Hampstead. One entitled "The Old House, Hampstead, 1885" signed by the artist and the other also signed and dated 1896

Walter Delaplaine Scull (1863-1915) was the scion of a wealthy American family who settled in England in the second half of the 19th Century, he was born in Somerset, went to Rugby, Lincoln College Oxford and became a member of Inner Temple - he never practised the Law - rather he followed his passions which were painting and writing. He exhibited 1885-1896.
