Antique Tekke Turkmen dowry rug of fine weave and small square size.

Circa 1900.

These rugs are considered to be ‘dowry’ weavings used by the Turkmen bride on her wedding day.

This example has 3 rows of 6 Tekke guls, the rug has a very well drawn and detailed border of the 'sunburst' design. Cochineal dye is used as a highlight through out the rug.

The rug has very fine soft wool with excellent colour.

The rug is in excellent condition with even wear and medium pile.

The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display.
