Antique Tekke Turkmen dowry rug of fine weave and small size.

Circa 1900.

These rugs are considered to be ‘dowry’ weavings used by the Turkmen bride on her wedding day.

This example has 3 rows of 7 Tekke guls, the rug has a very well drawn and detailed border with many interesting elements. The elems both contain highlights in crimson silk as can be seen in the close up images.

The rug has very fine soft wool with excellent colour.

The rug is in excellent condition with slight even wear and good pile.

The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display.
