Description

Displaying all the hallmarks of kilims from the Poltava region of Ukraine, this pretty piece has been woven in a great size, and has a very subtle nuanced complexion. High grade hand spun wool has been used to execute the design. Note the wonderful mastery of their technique by the talented Ukrainian weavers which is visible in the close up images. The design has great finesse and is drawn from the Ukrainian folk tradition with expressively drawn flowers and leaves. As these kilims were usually used as wall decoration, they often survive in good condition. This piece in in very good original condition with minimal signs of use or repair. Professionally cleaned. I feel this lovely piece would enhance many decorative settings, both traditional and contemporary.
