Description

This pretty runner from North-West Persia was probably woven in the town of Bakshaish situated about 60 miles from Tabriz in Azerbaijan. Bakshaish is one of the oldest towns in the region to weave carpets which are noted for their archaic ornamentation and unique colouring, including the use of undyed camel's wool and shades of light blue. This runner is a perfect example. It is pretty with simple geometric motifs and a limited range of colours. The size is very useful, short and very narrow, which is ideal for modern narrow hallways and corridors. All wool pile and natural dyes, the harmonious colours have achieved a gentle pleasing abrash. Note the lovely pale blue border with a simple row of stylised blossoms. Professionally cleaned and ready for immediate use.
