Description

An antique Chinese, Art Deco period, handwoven, sculpted monochrome red carpet, Circa 1920. A single colour red carpet with sculpted floral details. This rug has a very deep, densely knotted, soft pile, making the rug considerably heavy, with selvages and long fringes at both ends. Wool pile and cotton foundations. Very heavy for its size.

This a high quality and attractive period carpet.

Dimensions:

This rug measures approximately 376 cm long including the fringes, and 276 cm wide.

Condition:

Please see the pictures for details of the items condition. - This rug is in a reasonably good condition overall commensurate with its age. There is a little wear to the pile but quite even. Odd minor marks and blemishes. Would benefit from a good vacuum once in situ, and possibly a gentle clean. The ends selvages and fringes are both reasonable with only a little wear though there is some aged soiling. There is one small knick to an edge near one corner, see picture. A good regular shape for handwoven rug. - As with all vintage & antique furniture there will be signs of use, marks, wear & tear, etc.
