Description

Probably produced by the Qashqai weavers in South Persia this charming piece has lots of tribal character. The design is ostensibly composed of rows of stylised botehs and scattered geometric ornaments, but it is brought to life by the inclusion of a camel train, what appear to be be brides and grooms, as well as other scattered human forms. It is fun and quirky, and exemplifies the tribal weavers' art. The subtle range of colours make it ideal for decoration. There is a date which corresponds to approximately 1930. Some signs of minor wear, but very usable. This piece would work in many decorative settings, but would also appeal to collectors.
