Aaron Nejad Carpets and Rugs has dated this piece to the 1870s.
This piece was probably made in the Karaja district of North-West Persia as the structure resembles similar pieces made in other styles, namely a fine weave a thin pile and a very flat texture. The colours of this piece are also quite special. It has a pale appearance and a very limited palette which feels very contemporary. Note the white spandrels with archaic ornaments. This carpet feels like an early carpet. Although showing signs of wear commensurate with its age, it has survived in good condition. Professionally cleaned and with some very minor restoration, this beautiful carpet is ready for immediate use.
