Quality Victorian Plum Pudding Mahogany Chest of Drawers, with Provenance

Description

A quality Victorian plum pudding mahogany dressing chest of drawers, comprising two short over two long drawers with fine dove tails and brass locks. Well turned mahogany handles with ivorine detail. The top with generous surface with wonderful plum pudding grain; Four further and useful drawers with central swing dressing table mirror complete the ensemble.

A superb piece of English cabinet made furniture, in wonderful plum pudding mahogany. Circa 1885.

Inscribed to the inside of the mirror is a note confirming where it was made (Barrow) by James Carter, cabinet maker, in June 1885 for a captain of the Barrow Steam Navigation Company.

In excellent condition throughout, cleaned, waxed and polished.
