Description

Antique Ziegler carpets from the end of the 19th century come in a range of colour schemes, but I have rarely seen one with these colours. The overall impression is pale and elegant, the primary colours being ivory and a light grey. However, the composition is lifted by the striking use a pistachio green. The design is very elegant and nicely drawn with an intricate medallion floating above the ivory field surrounded by stylised leaves and palmettes, all framed by a complementary border which uses the same combination of colours. To add to the charm and desirability, the carpet has just the right amount of wear to give it the elusive lived-in look. This is a very decorative Ziegler carpet that would work well in may types of homes and settings.
