Description

The city of Hamadan in western Persia was the market centre for many types of rugs woven in the surrounding neighbouring villages. They often reveal great creativity and verve. Here is a very good example. It has the typical Hamadan village structure with a cotton foundation, symmetric knots and fine wool. The design is nicely drawn with 3 bold diamond medallions surrounded by stylised leaves and flowers, all framed by a pretty white border. This stylish Persian rug would add a splash of colour to any decorative setting. One small stain near the top border, otherwise in very nice condition. Ends and sides intact. Professionally cleaned.
