Description

Tekke Main carpets are among the most attractive of the Turkoman weavings. This fine example is no exception. Woven with fine velvety handspun wool and and wonderful natural dyes, it has a great presence. The guls are large and well spaced. Note the subtle changes in the minor ornamentation with varied use of a lovely and a navy blue. The borders are varied while the elems are largely intact along with the original blue selvages. Minor signs of corrosion, but generally in really excellent condition for a carpet of this age. Ready for immediate use.
