Italian Painted and Cane Dressing Table

1900 - 1920
Description

A very unusual and grand scale Italian dressing table in its original paint and bronzed gilt highlighting, original cane and bevelled mirror plate, circa 1900.

Certainly a decorative piece but also super practical, giving you plenty of surface space on the marble top and the five drawers for storage. There are also two small bracket shelves mounted onto the cane for holding scent bottles for example.

Wonderful shape and style to this dressing table and the paint has aged gently over the years, as has the bronzed gilding. Very solid and sturdy, all drawers running smoothly too.

For transport, the mirror and the supporting cane wings can be removed, as can the marble top too.

65 inches or 165 cm maximum height

53 inches are 134.5 cm wide

25 1/2 inches or 65 cm maximum depth

23 inches or 58.5 cm kneehole height

30 3/4 inches or 78 cm surface height

18 3/4 inches or 48 cm mirror height

Viewing here in Uppingham is very welcome in my spacious barn studio but also I have a showroom based within the Uppingham Antiques Centre, which is well worth a visit and have a good lunch in town too!
