Antique Armanibaff Carpet 2.97m X 2.66m

1900 - 1920
Description

A very unusual antique Armanibaff carpet, handwoven in the 1910s by Armenians in west Persia in a rare square size and dark indigo field. The garden design of cypress trees, flowers and various animals is reminiscent of highly collectible Bakhshaish carpets, albeit somewhat cruder. Fabulous secondary colours and utterly charming! Note the date of 1332 woven into the lions - equivalent to 1913.

Size: 2.97m x 2.66m (9ft 9in x 8ft 9in)

This rug is in good condition with light, age related wear, slightly heavier in places (see photos). Fringes and selvedges are secure and it has been professionally cleaned. Small repair in border, barely visible from the front (see photos).
