Aaron Nejad Carpets and Rugs has dated this piece to the 1880s.
This is one of the most attractive Bidjar carpets that I have ever handled. It dates to the last years of the 19th century with a unique cotton warps/wool wefts structure. The pile is even and solid. The natural dyes are exquisite, from the beautiful red background to the light blues, pinks greens and golds, with wonderful abrashes. The field design is a loose interpretation of the 'Garrus' design seen on earlier Kurdish carpets. The design is elegant and well drawn with an openness to it. It's a very happy carpet which would adorn any setting. In excellent condition. Professionally cleaned and ready for immediate use.
