A beautiful fine antique silk Farahan (Fereghan) rug woven in the late 19th century.  We can see some amazing abrash on this silk rug, (abrash is the term for dye change).  The weaver has used varying dyes of  purple and pale blue/greens to weave an exceptional work of art.  The vase design is elaborate and full of fine detailing.  We can see little hints of yellow dye used to.  This colour palette is a typical array of dyes for these elegant silk rugs from Fereghan (Farahan) in Western Persia.  The silk glistens beautifully when the light catches it.  Ideal to be used hung on the wall as a work of art as it is, or on the floor in a low traffic area such as bedroom.  The condition is good with only minimal minor preservation restoration in place and some small lower areas of silk pile, please do view all the additional images.  Missing a small amount at one end of about 2 centimetres.
