Farnham Antique Carpets has dated this piece to the 1900s.

Heriz carpets come from the North-West of Persia and no two are ever the same. Designs will always vary, depending on the age and what the weavers decided to do at the time. Generally they are geometric patterns of stylised floral motifs, with eight-pointed star medallions. Earlier examples from the late 19th century were often more open in design, still bearing geometric patterns, but in general softer colours too. These can be known as Serapi carpets dating from the mid to late 19th century. Younger pieces, tended to have more pattern and follow this format of central medallion and interesting corner designs. You can find more scrolling, curvilinear rare all over designs too.
