Antique Karabagh Runner Carpet

19th century
Description

This is a wonderful antique Karabagh carpet runner dating from the South Caucasus, from around 1905. The carpet has a most unusual geometric design very pleasing to the eye with large colourful stylised flowerheads in a nicely abrashed indigo field. It has colourful borders with saw tooth guard stripes.

A very characterful runner with a great antique look, this has some light wear and the ends and selvedges are complete. The runner is dated (1323, Islamic calendar) and is a very useful size measuring 290 cms by 104 cms.
