Description

A rare all over geometric design antique Heriz carpet, woven around 1900-1910 in lovely original condition. Gorgeous colours of pale blue and green, with a large early pattern often seen in Bakshaish carpets.

Finding these small size carpets from the Heriz region are increasingly difficult, as this was a size rarely woven and they are always sought after. Wonderful rich colours using varying tomato reds, brick reds, soft blues and greens. Over 100 years the dyes oxidise and change differently from one and another, hence you see this unique characteristic of dye change in antique pieces.

In very good order, a nice fine wool pile throughout and no losses to the borders at either end, a beautiful rare small size antique carpet full of charm and warmth.
