Antique Heriz Carpet

1900 - 1920
Description

A wonderful elegant antique Heriz carpet, hand-woven over 100 years ago in stunning pile and condition.  With lots of wonderful ivory natural wool surrounding the elongated deep red medallion design.  We can see some gorgeous greens and pale blues used in each corner spandrel in the main field, a wonderful touch of character you only find in true antique carpets.  That is know as dye change and the antique Persian term 'Abrash'.

With nearly a full soft wool pile all over, in really is in excellent original condition.  No major restoration or repairs to speak of.  No stains or marks are apparent either, it has been professionally washed by ourselves and it is ready to be used for another 100 years.

Request a home visit to view this rich and colourful antique Heriz carpet at home, we travel all over the UK visiting clients and designers.  You can select an ideal day and time for us to visit you, a free, no obligation service we have offered for 30 years.

Woven in East Azerbaijan (North-West Persia) these decorative Heriz carpets have always been regarded as beautiful, tough objects of decoration for the floor.  This piece is no exception, beautifully hand-woven which gorgeous colours of yellow, pale blues and warm red tones.

The reason Heriz rugs are so tough is that Mount Sabalan is located close to Heriz and sits on a major deposit of copper. Traces of copper in the drinking water for the sheep produces high quality wool that is far more resilient than wool from other areas.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
