Dating to around 1900, this is a really lovely Heriz rug from North-West Persia. The colours are absolutely delightful, including the sapphire blue, terracotta, apricot and gold. In addition, the design is a composition I have not seen before combining geometric ornaments one associates with the Heriz district and ornaments from west Persian Bidjar rugs. The border design is also very charming and elegant. This is a striking Persian village rug which is quite unique in its design. The rug has a thin even pile with velvety wool. It has survived in good original condition. The selvages have been restored at some time in the past to a very high standard. Professionally cleaned. This rug would appeal to both collectors and those looking to enhance their decorative setting.
