Old Baluch Balisht Face or Small Mat, Tree of Life, Circa 1920.

Description

Size: 2ft 11in x 1ft 10in (90 x 56cm).

Old Afghan Baluch balisht face, balisht were storage bags used to keep either grain or personal belongings in.

Circa 1920.

The bag face has a camel ground with a simple tree of life design. Note the four small animals. The ends are decorated with colourful weft work panels.

The bag face is in good condition with slight even wear and good pile.

This would be useful as a small mat suitable for normal domestic use.
