Description

This very pretty antique Angora carpet comes from a small town in Western Anatolia, woven in Ushak, this type of Turkish carpet are known as Angora carpets. The late 19th century weavers came from villages outside of Ushak and employed tribal techniques. Paramount to these techniques was the use of larger knots on these carpets (sometimes less than 30 knots per square inch) and an all-wool foundation. This is why Ushaks have a soft loose feel and their designs are more often very open.

Woven with gentle light greens, pinks and ivory dyes, it is perfect for a bedroom or drawing room looking for a subtle calm look. In very good original condition, with small areas of wear. The majority of the carpet has a soft pile showing all over, please view the additional images to see the condition.
