Antique Qashqai Tribal Bag Face, Diamond Design, Circa 1880.

Description

Size: 1ft 11in x 1ft 8in (58 x 52cm).

Antique tribal Qashqai bag face with hooked medallion design.

Circa 1880.

The bag face is very well drawn with a central multi coloured diamond medallion surrounded by latch hook or bird heads, the corners are filled with floral rosettes and other tribal elements. The bag face is framed with three narrow borders. The bag face has very good colours which stand out against the dark indigo blue field.

The bag face was once part of a 'khorjin' or saddle bag, signs of tribal use can be seen by the wear in the corners and a few old repairs.

The bag face is in good condition with even wear and medium pile. The sides of the bag face have been over bound to conserve it.

The bag face has been hand washed and is ready for display.
