Antique Afshar Neriz Rug with Repeat Cypress Tree Design, Circa 1900.

Description

Size: 6ft 5in x 4ft 11in (196 x 151cm).

Antique Persian Afshar rug of the Neriz type from the Kerman region of Southern Persia.

Circa 1900.

The rug has an all over repeat Cypress tree design on an ivory ground, the floral borders have some very attractive soft indigo blue.

The rug is in good condition with even wear and medium pile. There are some spots of heavier wear in the middle of the rug and some corrosion to the browns. The rug has a firm handle as is typical of Neriz weavings.

The rug is suitable for normal domestic use.
