Antique Afshar Rug, Single Medallion Design, Circa 1900.

Description

Size: 5ft 9in x 5ft 0in (175 x 152cm).

Antique Afshar rug with single large medallion design.

Circa 1900

An interesting Afshar rug of a very rustic design, the rug is of a slightly uneven square shape with a large medallion in soft madder red with a smaller ivory medallion inside. The corners are in a glowing indigo blue filled with simple flowers. The ivory main border is a well drawn example of a classic Afshar design.

The rug is in original 'as found' condition with even wear, slightly heavier in places with medium / low pile. The ends are a little ragged and the sides have some wear.

Hand washed and ready for use or display. A good rustic tribal Afshar rug.
