Antique Caucasian Shirvan prayer rug with floral lattice on an ivory ground.

Circa 1890.

A good example of this well known group of prayer rugs, the rug has a fine lattice with each diamond containing a small brightly coloured flower or shrub. The mihrab is of a very simple form with small animals and a comb surrounding it. Overall the rug has a very rustic feel and a simple charm.

The rug has even wear and medium pile.

Hand washed and ready for use or display, the rug would make a superb wall hanging.
