Antique Afshar Neriz rug of repeat shield design on an ivory ground.

Circa 1900.

An interesting example of a Afshar Neriz rug with large scale shields on an ivory ground. This design could represent tribal tents or it could have other tribal meaning. The field is filled with tribal design elements such as flowers and stars. The boarders are of typical Afshar design.

The rug is in good condition with even wear and good pile. This is a very firm rug that will stand up to very heavy use. The weave is typical for Neriz rugs with a firm and heavy handle. The rug has one old patch repair that can be seen in the images and the ends are a little ragged, this is reflected in the price.

The rug is suitable for heavy domestic use.

The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display.
