Antique Bakshaish Village Carpet, Large Size with Camel Ground, Circa 1880.

Description

Size: 15ft 1in x 9ft 6in (460 x 290cm).

Antique Bakshaish village carpet of linked medallion design with a camel ground.

Circa 1880.

The carpet is from one of many weaving villages in the mountainous area about 60 km east of Tabriz. The carpet has a triple linked medallion design on a camel ground, the corners of the carpet are in soft indigo blue filled with a repeat boteh design. The ivory ground boarder is of a classic Bakshaish design.

Excellent condition with even wear and medium pile. This is a good carpet suitable for normal domestic furnishing use such as a living room or dining room .

Hand washed and ready for use or display.
