Aaron Nejad Carpets and Rugs has dated this piece to the 1850s.
It is a grand old carpet with wonderful dyes and a crisply drawn version of the 'Mina Khani' design. The lovely diamond medallion is beautifully drawn and seems to float above the sapphire blue field. Note the lovely green border and the aubergine dye, a dye which fell out of use in second half of the 19th century when fuschine and other chemical dyes started to come into use. It is a very elegant carpet which is enhanced by the light wear and old repair which gives it that eternal lived-in look. Professionally cleaned and ready for immediate use.
