Aaron Nejad Carpets and Rugs has dated this piece to the 1870s.
It has a wool foundation and a fine wool pile. The natural dyes have yielded wonderful saturated colours, especially the yellows, light blues and reds. The design is open and calming, lovely bold palmettes spaced well, and lovely borders. And in terms of condition it has survived well, with just enough wear to give it the 'lived-in' look. It does have some small old repairs, but the pile is overall very good with original ends and sides intact. Dating to around 1870, this is a highly decorative and desirable Persian carpet.
