Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Ghiordes prayer rugs originated in western Anatolia during the Ottoman period and are renowned for their distinct architectural mihrab niche designs. Produced primarily from the 17th to the 19th centuries, they represent some of the most celebrated textile craftsmanship of the region.

These carpets are hand-knotted using high-grade wool on a wool or cotton warp and weft. They feature the symmetrical Turkish (Ghiordes) double knot, incorporating natural vegetable dyes to achieve shades of red, beige, soft blue, and ivory.

Authentic period examples feature a pointed or stepped mihrab arch framing a solid or central lamp motif, supported by slender side columns. They typically possess complex multi-band floral borders, high knot density, and natural color variations indicative of historical vegetable dyes.

Antique prayer rugs can be displayed as woven wall art or layered over neutral modern carpets to add texture and historical character. Their compact proportions make them ideal for defining seating areas, hallways, or study spaces.

Avoid placing antique rugs in direct sunlight to prevent colour fading, and use a high-quality non-slip underlay to protect the structure. Professional conservation cleaning by a specialist in antique textiles is recommended over standard carpet washing.
