Antique Salt Bag by the Uzbek Nomads, Circa 1900.

Description

Size: 1ft 4in x 1ft 7in (41 x 48cm).

Antique salt bag by the nomads of Uzbekistan in plain flat weave.

Circa 1900.

Salt bags by the Uzbek nomads are scarce, they were used to store rock salt to be given to their animals during the migration. This example has the lightning strike design.

The salt bag is in excellent condition with some signs of tribal use and a few historic stains.

The bag face has been hand washed and is ready for display.
