Decorative late 19th century antique Ushak carpet with wonderful soft colours, using pinks and soft purple tones and a light ivory border.  The wool pile is in general very good on this antique carpet from Anatolia with a few minimal lower areas of pile.  No major losses to the ends or side/selvedges, as far as decorative antique carpets go this one would be very easy to live with and place in a drawing room for instance. The willow tree design is a delightful pattern in the main field using pale greens and on the soft pink background a real delight to furnish with.Ushaks were woven in Western Anatolia which was one of the largest rug production areas since the Ottoman Empire.  Their designs tend to be more open than Persian rugs and soft dyes are not uncommon.  Often younger Ushaks or Oushaks will be rich red in colour and use bolder geometric designs.  This Anatolian carpet has an almost contemporary feel to it and would work in a modern space as well as traditional.  We clean ev...
