Description

This very fine silk rug comes from the town of Hereke in Western Turkey. Noted for it silk rug workshops, the best ones often had the workshop signature woven into the corner of the border, as in our example. It exudes luxury and sophistication, with a wonderful quality weave and shimmering silk pile. The colours are subtle and exquisite, while the design with a repeating design is supremely elegant. Note the lovely floral cartouches in the border. It is in excellent original condition as it was probably hung on a wall. It retains its original kilim ends, and has recently been professionally cleaned.
