Description

This is a fine example of an antique Tekke Turkman carpet dating from the late 19th Century. With a typical Tekke design of six rows of fourteen guls this carpet oozes charm and character. The colour palette is particularly appealing; the ground colour is a beautifully soft russet and the guls are highlighted a brighter strong coral red and a gold shade is also featured. The carpet itself is very soft with lustrous wool. There are a few old minor repairs (see photos) and areas where the pile is a little lower but bearing in mind its age the carpet is in good order. A really great room size this measures 302 cms by 225 cms and looks great down, bringing bags of character to a period or modern setting.
