Antique Ersari Turkmen main carpet from Southern Turkmenistan or Northern Afghanistan.
Circa 1880 or earlier.
This fine carpet has 2 rows of 6 large goli guls with large diamond shaped minor guls. The main guls are of a superb large size and very round in shape with excellent colour.
The simple borders are typical of early Ersari main carpets, this example also retains its original kilim end finishes.

The carpet is of a square size, indicating an early date and tribal origin. An outstanding early tribal carpet.
The carpet is in excellent condition with even wear and medium pile, there are one or two small old re-weaves.
The carpet is suitable for normal domestic use.
The carpet has been hand washed and is ready for use or display.
