This West African ethnographic shoulder mask dates to 1900 and originates from the Baga people. Hand-carved from dark brown wood, the sculpture displays a rich patina and visible traces of white pigment around the almond-shaped eyes. The piece takes the form of an abstract figure featuring a high crested coiffure with incised geometric hatching, a prominent elongated nose, an ear with concentric circles, and pendulous breasts marked by vertical incised lines.
