A lovely example of a 19th Century Grand Tour patinated bronze architectual model of The Temple of Hercules Victor (Vesta) in Rome. Nicley detailed example presented on a circular Giallo Antico marble base. Located in the Piazza Bocca della Verita on the banks of the Tiber and a favourite of the Grand Tour it was thought to be a Temple of Vesta throughout the 19th Century because of it''s round design. These models are believed to have been intended for use as inkwells because of the removable roof section.
