Size: 1ft 5in x 1ft 3in (42 x 39cm) face size; 1ft 5in x 2ft 5in (42 x 73cm) open size.

Antique tribal Qashqai bag with striped plain weave back.

Circa 1880.

A really superb and scarce Qashqai tribal bag with a large scale herati design on a dark indigo blue ground. The face is framed by a very narrow barber pole design border. The fine striped plain weave back is a feature of this outstanding bag. The back has been opened for display purposes.

The bag is in excellent condition with very slight even wear and almost full pile, the plain weave back shows some slight wear through use and retains signs of the original closing lappets. There is an old metal customs and excise tag still attached to the top edge of the bag.

A very good collectable bag in superb display condition.
