Size: 4ft 6in x 3ft 11in (136 x 120cm).

Antique Turkish Bergama rug of small square size, the rug has an interesting all over design.

Circa 1850.

The rug is an excellent early example of type, with a glowing indigo blue ground with a traditional village design that is still woven to this day. The borders are classic designs associated with rugs from the Bergama region of Western Anatolia.

The rug retains its original striped plain weave kilim at both ends, these do both show signs of the rugs age.

The rug is in excellent condition for its age with even wear and medium pile.

The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display. This is a superb early collectible rug that is of a size that would enable it to be used as a wall hanging.
