Size: 9ft 7in x 7ft 1in (291 x 216cm).

Antique Tekke Turkmen main carpet with 5 rows of 12 large round Tekke guls.

Circa 1880.

A good Tekke main carpet of room size, the warm madder red field, the carpet has well drawn large Tekke guls. The minor guls are of an early form with the complete 'bow and arrow' design, this is usually found on much earlier carpets. The border is of the sunburst design, this contains some very good colouring to include a light indigo blue and a blue green. Note the very decorative piled elem panels at each end.

The carpet is in good condition with slight even wear with good pile.

Both ends retain the original large elem panel end finishes.

The carpet is suitable for normal domestic use.

The carpet has been hand washed and is ready for use.
