Description

Size: 2ft 2in x 2ft 0in (65 x 60cm).

Antique Caucasian half Khorjin (half a saddlebag), in soumak weave.

Circa 1900.

This is a good example of a soumak saddlebag, with pleasing colour and design. The design is based on latch hook medallions with a large central medallion surrounded by smaller latch hook medallions in the main border. The outer border in yellow and the inner ivory border contain a diamond design.

The bag is in excellent original condition with very slight wear to the face, the bag is complete with its original plain weave stripped back. This bag is in slightly better condition than its pair.

The bag has been hand washed and is ready for display. This item could easily be filled and used as a large cushion.
