Helen Cordelia Angell RI,RWS 1847-1884 and William Stephen Coleman 1839-1904.Helen was a fruit,flower and bird painter.She received her first lessons in art from her brother William Stephen Coleman.She was appointed Flower Painter in Ordinary to Queen Victoria in 1897.Just before his death in 1864,William Henry Hunt declared that Helen Cordelia Coleman was his only successor as a painter of the intense form of still life that he had invented.William Stephen Coleman ,1829-1904 ,her brother was a figure painter and illustrator.He worked at Mintons Art Pottery and designed many tiles and plates for them.He also illustrated many books including ‘Natural History Picture Book for Children ‘1861 and’Our Garden Friends’1863-64.Works by him are in the V&A Museum and Glasgow Art Gallery.’Still Life with Apple Blossoms in a Vase’ signed by both artists.
