Description
Melayir is a village in West Persia which was founded for weaving rugs of high quality. Populated by Kurds who were known for being excellent dyers, the best Melayir rugs often have wonderful colours. This piece fits into that category. It is finely woven, folds like velvet, and has a wonderful combination of striking colours on a midnight-blue field. I like the quirky drawing of the central medallion framed by the dramatic border which reminds us that the rug was woven in village surroundings in the most basic of weaving conditions. A very striking rug with presence! FREE WORLDWIDE DELIVERY. All items can be viewed in my gallery . Opening hours are Monday to Friday 10am to 6pm, or on Sunday by appointment.
